House Party: release date, trailer and everything we know about the remake
He also does speaking engagements to help educate and uplift others. Still, 37 “no” votes, while a break from Washington’s ironclad support for the Jewish state, fell short of the opposition bloc progressives had hoped to muster. Thirty-nine Democrats had voted “no” on Friday on the rule to allow the foreign aid package to come to the House floor, a target that progressives just missed on Saturday on the Israel bill.
Christopher Martin as Play
Representative Jamie Raskin of Maryland represented a notable new “no” vote among Democrats, and other standouts included Representatives Donald S. Beyer Jr. of Virginia, Earl Blumenauer of Oregon and John Garamendi of California. The plan, laid out in a rule that passed on Friday, was concocted to capitalize on the pools of support for each part of the $95 billion package, while preventing opposition to any one piece from taking down all of them. The House passed a long-stalled foreign aid package on Saturday that gives funding to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan, with a majority of lawmakers backing money for American allies across the globe. The package, which now goes to the Senate, is almost certain to become law. Fittingly, the "House Party" at James' home has a star-studded guest list.

Unfortunately, there doesn't appear to be a lot of love for the House Party reboot. As of January 12, the new version has a Rotten Tomatoes score of 43%, which classifies it as "Rotten." The Hollywood Reporter simply says, "Turn down the invitation," while other reviews are a bit more mixed, saying there some elements of the movie that work. Based on the synopsis, we'd say the reboot sounds quite different from the original. This shouldn't be too shocking when you learn that Emmy-nominated Atlanta writers Stephen Glover and Jamal Olori have been tasked with writing a brand new script for the movie. Actress Kelly Jo Minter plays LaDonna in "House Party," one of the many girls grabbing Play's interest.
Christopher Reid as Kid
First, however, he played Bilal, a friend of the lead duo who's pressed into duty as the DJ for the party of the year, and who provides the new jack swing that soundtracks its events. Sure, he has too much equipment, of which he's way too protective, but when the chips are down, he's there for his friends. There is just as much talent in front of the cameras in one of the biggest 2023 movies, too, as we will explain in our breakdown of who plays whom in the new House Party cast, along with a reminder of where you may have seen them from. The House Party franchise consists of American comedies, based on a short film written/directed by Reginald Hudlin in 1990.

He went on to become the star of his own 1990s eponymous sitcom and even went on to several feature film roles, including the popular Bad Boys action franchise alongside Will Smith. After Mescudi made his feature film debut in 2013’s apocalyptic drama Goodbye World, he went on to star in movies like 2014’s adaptation of the Need for Speed video games, Adam McKay’s Oscar-nominated satire Don’t Look Up, and one of the best horror movies of 2022, X. He is known on the small screen for a recurring role on Westworld, a starring role on HBO Max’s miniseries We Are Who We Are, and for Netflix’s animated musical comedy special, Entergalactic, which he also created. "House Party" grew from a student film director Reginald Hudlin made at Harvard University. Starring popular rappers Kid 'n Play, "House Party" features Kid doing his best to get to Play's party — on a school night, no less!
When is the House Party release date?
Young Fly, who, also like Scott Mescudi, has played himself before — namely in his 2016 acting and feature film debut #DigitalLivesMatter. He would follow that up with the star-studded holiday comedy Almost Christmas, Mario van Peebles’ action thriller Armed, Netflix’s The Trap, and the 2019 sequel to the stoner movie favorite, How High. House Party is a 1990 American comedy film directed by Reginald Hudlin. Martin Lawrence was a fresh-faced 25 year-old when he appeared in a supporting role in House Party, with his only previous film credit coming in Spike Lee's drama Do the Right Thing. His team-up with Kid 'n Play was his first effort at cinematic comedy, and it'd prove to be a lucrative avenue for him moving forward.
House Party (2023 film)
It focuses on a group of teenagers planning a party at home while their parents are on vacation, only to have the craziest night of their lives unfold. The cult success of the first film resulted in several sequels, including a remake set to release on HBO Max in 2022. While playing Emmett Washington on Showtime’s The Chi, Latimore starred in Netflix’s 2019 coming-of-age comedy, The Last Summer, and appeared in Like a Boss with Tiffany Haddish and Rose Byrne. Diamond was a stand-up comic with bit parts in several shows and films, and was a regular act on 1983's "The ½ Hour Comedy Hour." His biggest role was in 1984's "Bachelor Party" as Rudy, one of Rick's (Tom Hanks) friends. He played Cop #2 in "House Party 2," and appeared in 1993's series, "Townsend Television," which also featured John Witherspoon.
The film was a hit, grossing over $26 million, made huge stars out of several of its then-unknown cast members, and provided an enduring legacy for black cinema. Both Reginald and his older brother, producer Warrington Hudlin, make cameos as a pair of burglars. Though some of the references in the film are cringey at best, the rest is, as Roger Ebert said at the time, filled with "exuberance." While Andrew Santino — who plays LeBron James’ neighbor, Peter, in House Party — has no experience in the music business, he stars as someone who does on FX’s Dave — namely Mike, the best friend and manager to Lil Dicky’s fictional self. Yet another House Party cast member who also has experience in the music business (among other various avenues of the entertainment industry) is D.C.
He'd already gotten his start in movies, appearing in late '80s classics like I'm Gonna Git You Sucka, Harlem Nights, and Do the Right Thing. As Pop, he was the hard-edged disciplinarian trying to keep his son out of trouble, and coming down hard when his rules weren't obeyed. He's last seen just before the credits roll, preparing to punish Kid for his night of debauchery. Like Kid 'n Play, Daryl Mitchell got his start in '80s hip-hop, as one half of the duo Groove B. Chill. House Party was his first acting role, and it wasn't a huge stretch, as he played a character named Chill who was partnered with a character named Groove. The good news is that Mitchell would go on to demonstrate a much wider range, with House Party serving as a launchpad for a long and venerable screen career.
The '90s, in particular, were good to him, with roles on The John Larroquette Show and in the classic sci-fi comedy Galaxy Quest, in which he hilariously portrayed the grown-up Tommy Webber. Already a working stand-up at the time of House Party's release, Lawrence was plucked from his early movie days by mogul Russell Simmons to host the groundbreaking HBO series Def Comedy Jam. While working on that show, he launched his own sitcom, Martin, which was a huge hit, making a star of its lead. Then he was cast as co-lead opposite Will Smith in Michael Bay's massive cop action hit Bad Boys, which has spawned multiple sequels up to and including 2020's Bad Boys For Life. It hasn't been all winning, as Lawrence has faced his share of off-camera drama, including arrests and a health scare during which he fell into a three-day coma. Still, he is far and away the biggest name to emerge from the House Party cast.
While the two of them are working at a mansion, Kevin is informed by his childhood friend and current supervisor Venus that he and Damon will be fired due to cameras catching them goofing off on the job. Damon finds out that the mansion they are cleaning belongs to LeBron James, who is in India on a two-week meditation retreat, and proposes that he and Kevin host a party there for LeBron's celebrity contacts. Kevin, now desperate for money due to him knowing he's fired and not starting his new IT job for another 2 months hesitantly joins in on the plan. Kevin asks Venus to supply him and Damon with the keys to the mansion, and she very reluctantly agrees. Out of the innumerable amount of cinematic genres and subgenres that exist these days, the “party movie” is one that I never would have expected to see inspire any remakes or reboot. However, out of the many great party movies from over the years, I suppose the most likely candidate for such treatment would be the most quintessential title of them all — House Party.
